Below is an Events List sample with certain device folders open. If
we take a look at the LIGHTS Events we see that there are 3
different shades of gray. The darkest shade represents a Device
History Event. The next shade of gray represents a Global History
Event. And the next shade represents a Current State Event. The
events with a white background as shown in the MGRKEY and
CASHDRAWER folders are Real Time Events.
The Terminal Agent and Controller Agent keep Device History Events
for each individual device. So the Printer has its own Device
History Queue as does the Keyboard and so on. This allows users to
see the last X number of Printer Device Events, etc. The Device
History Events are the oldest events that are available for each
device. The Device History Events Queue is a circular queue and
newer events for each device replace those older events for that
device. See
Device Events
Queuefor more information.
The Terminal Agent and Controller Agent also keep a Global History
Queue that contains the X number of most recent events from all
devices. This queue may not contain events from all devices since
it is only the most recent events. One or more devices can dominate
this queue and so to see the last X number of events for a
particular device, see the Device History Events section above.
Global History Events and Device History Events are both shown in
the individual device folders above. Their history status is shown
by the background color. Global History Events are also a part of
the EVENTS 1, 2, and 3. See below for more information about the
EVENTS 1, 2, and 3 Lists. Also see
Global History
Queuefor more information.
Current State Events are used by the InSight UI to initialize all
displays and graphics to their appropriate Current State. For
instance, the VDisplay and 2x20 Displays are initialized with these
events as are the Manager Key and Cash Drawer States.
Real Time Events are events that are displayed by the InSight UI in
Real-Time. These events originated at the Terminal being monitored
after the InSight UI started monitoring the Terminal. Real Time
Events are continuously added to both the individual device folders
and to the EVENTS 1, 2, and 3 Lists where appropriate.
