Section 5. Device Events Queues

Since the Global Events Queuecontains a sequential list of events from one or more devices it is not guaranteed to be a good source of the last number of events from any particular device. To provide the most recent events from all devices, InSight Terminal Agent and the Insight Dump Formatter provides Device Events Queues for each of the terminals devices. This ensures that for each device, a number of the most recent events will be provided. For example, the most recent Keyboard events are in the Keyboard Device Events Queue, the most recent Receipt events are in the Receipt Device Events Queue.

As the example below shows, the end of the Global Events Queue, and the start of the Device Events Queue are clearly marked. What is then shown is that although the terminal has a Cash Drawer there are no events in the Cash Drawer Device Events Queue. What this tells us is that there have been no Cash Drawer events since the terminal was booted.

Next is the Andisplay Device Events Queue. Keep in mind that although these events are sequential for Andisplay events, there could have been events occurring before and after each event but they are not listed in this queue since only Andisplay events are listed in the Andispay Device Events Queue. For a complete sequential list of all events from any device see the Global Events Queue.

Keyboard Device Events Queue

The Keyboard Device Events Queue is shown below. It contains Tone and Light events as well as Keystroke events since the Terminal Agent considers these 3 events to be Keyboard events.
