If not disallowed
by store policy, a client application can send events to the
terminal to virtually turn the manager key to the manager position
and to turn it back to the normal position. Here are some
additional details on how this mechanism works:

Software override
of the physical manager key is only allowed when the physical key
is in the normal position.

A soft override
of the manager key from the normal position is internally cancelled
upon the following events:
a.
Client session
disconnect or timeout.
b.
Terminal goes
physically offline from its controller.
c.
Terminal agent
goes offline from the controller agent (because the controller
agent is stopped or not operating properly).
d.
Physical manager
key is turned.
